      Ann Linn Palm hansen
Visual artist Ann Linn Palm Hansen has gained international recognition for her geometric studies of form and colour. Her artist’s book (SHAPE, COLOR) RISO I, featuring 127 colour studies, was described in the press as “One of the most beautiful books of the year.” Her work explores the human perception of the most fundamental visual elements: form and colour. This might involve subtle colour gradations around the curvature of a sphere or an investigation into how two colours influence the perception of the same shape. One piece, for example, depicts a meeting between a red circle, a blue square, and a yellow triangle on a grid-divided sheet of paper.
Ann Linn Palm Hansen’s artistic practice is an inquiry into form and colour as a way of creating a universal language. She was educated at Design School Kolding and Design Academy Eindhoven (2012), and she has worked with Jongerius Lab in Berlin, Aldo Bakker in Amsterdam, and Allan Wexler at Parsons in New York. Born in 1984 and raised in Odense and Skanderborg, she now has a studio on the island of Tåsinge. She has received several work grants from the Danish Arts Foundation’s Grant Committee for Crafts and Design (2019, 2020, 2021), Literature (2020), and Visual Arts (2020, 2021).
Most recently, Ann Linn Palm Hansen has held solo exhibitions at Vestjyllands Kunstpavillon (Spring 2023) and Munkeruphus (Autumn 2023). She exhibited 166 works on paper, a paper sculpture, and seven smaller paper models in the group exhibition “LIGHT & SPACE” at Copenhagen Contemporary (2021–2022), alongside artists such as Anish Kapoor, James Turrell, and Olafur Eliasson.
